Bandung Mayor hires architects to design public spaces
Mayor Ridwan Kamil puts his architectural talent to test.
Every community in Bandung will get an architect to design and improve its public spaces, Mayor Ridwan Kamil announced.
“Each village, from mid-February 2016, will be accompanied by one architect,” he wrote in a Facebook post (in Bahasa Indonesia) yesterday.
“The task of the architect will be to help the village heads and community to conceptualise and improve infrastructure and public spaces in the village,” he wrote.
The Mayor himself is an architect, with offices, mosques and townships across Indonesia, Singapore, China and the Middle East.
Before coming into office in 2013, Kamil started the Indonesia Berkebun movement to build gardens in cities across Indonesia.
