Entrepreneur Ashran Ghazi starts on 1 May.

Malaysia’s startup agency MaGIC has announced the appointment of Ashran Ghazi as its new CEO. On 1 May Ghazi replaces founding chief executive Cheryl Yeoh, who left the agency in January this year after a year and nine months in office. Ghazi is well-known among local and regional entrepreneurs, MaGIC said. He is chairman of the government’s New Entrepreneurs Foundation, a unit that supports digital and creative businesses. He has also served as a board member of the government’s SME Corp. In 2011 he co-founded Joota, a content marketing tool that raised US$2.1 million of investments. Prior to that he started television streaming service called Asiastream. Ghazi is a graduate of University of Michigan, USA, starting his career with a subsidiary of oil company Petronas.
